Filmmaking is a passion of mine: I love creating artistic, emotional, cinematic, thoughtful, hilarious, daring, spooky, and meaningful films.
This page is dedicated to my video-based projects, my values within my work, and my experience in video making.
my take on filmmaking
success
Modern movie makers insist on unnecessary glorified violence and sex appeal in their films, in the name of revenue — simultaneously degrading the quality of the film and negatively influencing many of its viewers.
I stay away from both. Not every action movie needs an extended bedroom scene, and most films don’t need slow motion glory shots of machine guns.
While sex and war sell, my hope is that quality does too.
I aim to earn success through thoughtful, unique, immersive, artistic, and meaningful film that I enjoyed creating.
budget
Most of my films are made for under $100 CAD, not including actors (usually very few), and pre-existing gear (very little). The goal is not to imitate Hollywood; it’s to make meaningful films, and have fun making them.
messaging
I make sure to keep all messaging in my videos aligned with my personal beliefs and core values — things like inclusion, equity, justice — even (and especially) when a film’s primary message isn’t a positive one. Short films are personal, artistic projects, not informative, bias-free vessels of information.
It’s also important to me not to mislead audiences by inaccurately portraying real-life scenarios. I intentionally avoid desensitizing my audience to violence and war, downplaying the effects of drugs, promoting dangerous actions, and putting a misguiding, dramatized lens on social norms/expectations.
purpose
My primary goals in creating film are:
Make meaningful and impactful film, and have fun doing it.
My goal is not to go to Hollywood. My goal is not to go viral. I am simply passionate about making videos, and making a difference in the world.
